Pray for our churches
First Congregational Church of Wauwatosa - In September, twenty members of the FCC congregation visited the Masjid (Mosque) in Brookfield—invited and welcomed to that new place of worship by Shaykh Noman Hussain (who served as one of our keynote speakers at the special symposium on the Muslim faith at FCC in October of 2016). This program was part of our Community Through Understanding initiative, which continues its focus on outreach to, and engagement with, other faith communities. The initiative focuses on the exploration of, and learning about, the histories, traditions, tenets, and practices of our sisters and brothers in area Islamic and Sikh congregations. Additionally this past September, our new Youth Service Initiative, which was launched. The Youth Service Initiative will take place every third Sunday of the month. Our middle and high school students will serve as greeters, ushers, liturgists, special musicians, and will be in charge of Coffee Hour. Different youth will fill those roles each month, as they will learn so much more through firsthand experience.
Rapid River Congregational Church, Rapid River, Michigan - Pastor Bill Rafuse shared news of a successfull fall rummage sale; this sale is both a ministry to the community with inexpensively priced items for resale, as well as a fundraiser for the church. Rapid River had a great VBS this past August, with fun participation by both helpers and students; this Oct, they look forward to a Hymn Sing, held on each of the months that has a fifth Sunday, as a way to celebrate an extra day of worship.
